Parents are memory designers

Memory is what brings us back home everyday.

People walking in the streets and markets, and to school, have one thing in common. They all go home at the end of the day. How do they know where their home is? What brings them back home?

It is memory. People can go back home without searching on a map because they have memory. In other words, memory is what brings us home everyday.

I have two little kids, and my hope is that when they grow up, they will always find their way back home. Not the physical space to come back to, but for them to have an emotional memory to come back to. This is why parents are memory designers.

But I don’t stop here. I need to revisit good memories and live out the riches of that harvest. Memory is a great treasure house, and what kind of treasure house it will be for my family depends on me, the parents.

Parents are memory designers.
